Fortnite Token Guide: What the Pirate Token Is and How to Get It
What is the Fortnite token?
The Fortnite token is what many players call the Pirate Token, a very rare chest drop during Fortnite's Treasure Hunters mini-season (Nov 1 to about Dec 5, 2026). In the game it's called Pirate Shop Access. Find the Fortnite token and you can claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop, free, for 14 days, once in 2026 and once more in 2027. Epic hasn't published the drop rate; the two estimates are about 1 in 700,000 and 1 in 2,000 per chest.
Are the Fortnite token, Pirate Token and Pirate Shop Access the same item?
The Fortnite token goes by several names, which is why searches for the Fortnite token, the Fortnite shop token and the Pirate Token all lead to the same answers.

How to get the Fortnite token
- Play Battle Royale while Treasure Hunters runs. Every Fortnite token find we can trace came from chests in Build or Zero Build matches. Ranked is disputed and all-bot lobbies have produced nothing; see which modes can drop the Pirate Token.
- Open every chest you can. Regular, rare, Sprite, buried, Wanted Poster and Relic chests can all roll treasure (HYPEX). Each chest is one roll at the Fortnite token, so the number of chests is the only thing you control.
- Play in a squad. If anyone in your duo, trio or squad finds the Pirate Token, everyone in the group gets it, fill teammates included (GamesRadar, Times of India). Four players means four times the Fortnite token rolls.
- Land where chests cluster. Lantern Landing has the most Treasure chests on the map (45 by Beebom's count, over 46 by GameRant's), so it's the usual first stop on a Fortnite token run. Our Pirate Token chest map has the full loop.
- Count your chests. The Quests tab's Treasure Hunt section shows how many chests you've opened hunting the Fortnite token (Beebom), and our Fortnite token tracker turns that number into odds.
What are the Fortnite token odds?
Epic has never published the Fortnite token drop rate. Two estimates circulate, and they're about 350× apart:
- About 1 in 700,000 per chest: the community figure most guides quote (Insider Gaming).
- About 1 in 2,000 per chest: dataminer Blortzen's estimate, reported by VICE.
In practice, a solo Fortnite token hunter opening 8 chests in 10 matches a day for 30 days has about a 0.34% chance at 1 in 700,000, or about 70% at 1 in 2,000. A squad of four at the same pace has about 1.4% or 99.2%, because every teammate's chests count. What does the Fortnite token get you in the Item Shop?
- Free with the Fortnite token: anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop, for 14 days from activation (TheGamer, quoting the in-game text).
- Not included: real-money offers, gifting and Battle Pass levels (GamesRadar).
- Sidekicks: only one per Fortnite token, and it can't be one you already own.
- Afterwards: whatever you claim with the Fortnite token stays in your Locker (Fortnite Tracker).

Is there a Fortnite token power hour?
Not yet. Dataminer HYPEX says Pirate Shop Power Hours are coming later this season, but Epic hasn't announced a Fortnite token power hour. What Epic has confirmed is Treasure Hours every Saturday (Nov 7: 2–4 PM and 9–11 PM ET), and its news for them doesn't mention the Pirate Token. Here is Epic's full in-game text for Nov 7, with no word on the Fortnite token:

Which Fortnite token finders, trackers and sellers are scams?
No Fortnite token finder, detector or "AI locator" can see the Pirate Token before a chest rolls it, and the reward can't be transferred, so accounts and codes for sale are a scam. Epic's Fortnite Status account put it plainly on Nov 3, answering reports of Fortnite token accounts for sale:
"Buying an account or using fake tools is a scam. This is just like any of the chests in Battle Royale, so every player has an equal opportunity to find Pirate Shop Access."
