What Can You Get With the Pirate Token? Fortnite Item Shop Rules
Short answer
The Pirate Token (Pirate Shop Access, often called the Fortnite Item Shop token) lets you claim anything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop, free, for 14 days from the moment you activate it. That's the wording of the in-game pop-up quoted by TheGamer. Not included: real-money offers, gifting, and Battle Pass levels. You can take only one Sidekick, and it has to be one you don't already own. Fortnite Tracker says whatever you claim stays in your Locker after the 14 days.
Can you claim it?
| Item type | Can you claim it? | What the guides say |
|---|---|---|
| Outfits, emotes and other cosmetics sold for V-Bucks | Yes | All five guides we read say Item Shop cosmetics can be claimed. Dexerto, FRVR and TheGamer put it as "anything sold for V-Bucks". |
| Jam Tracks | Reported yes | Dexerto says the first player to find the token confirmed Jam Tracks are included. The other guides don't mention them. |
| Sidekicks | One only | Dexerto, FRVR and TheGamer: one free Sidekick that you don't already own. Beebom only says Sidekicks you already own are excluded. |
| Bundles, LEGO and Festival items | Not covered | No guide mentions them. If they're sold for V-Bucks, the in-game wording suggests yes, but nobody has confirmed it. |
| Music Pass and other passes | Unclear | Guides exclude "pass levels" and Battle Pass rewards. None mentions the Kasane Teto Music Pass arriving Nov 12 (Epic), so don't count on it. |
| Real-money offers and packs | No | Excluded in all five guides. |
| Battle Pass levels and rewards | No | Excluded by Dexerto, FRVR, TheGamer and Fortnite Tracker. Beebom's wording is mixed: it excludes "pass levels" but elsewhere says "all the passes". |
| Gifting to friends | No | Excluded by Beebom, Dexerto, FRVR and Fortnite Tracker. |
| V-Bucks | No | The token lets you claim items without spending V-Bucks (Beebom). No guide says it gives you V-Bucks. |
Epic hasn't published a full rules page, so this table is built from guides that quote the in-game text. We'll update it if Epic posts one.
Is there a limit on how much you can take?
None that anyone has found. No guide reports a total cap or a per-day cap; the only limit mentioned is the one Sidekick. Beebom describes it as claiming "the entire Item Shop for free every day for up to 14 days". The catch is that the shop rotates: you can only claim what's in the shop while your 14 days are running. So when you activate decides what you get. Our activation guide lines the window up with the collab drops Epic has announced.
Do you keep the items?
Yes, as far as anyone can tell. Fortnite Tracker says cosmetics claimed during the period "remain in their Locker permanently", and Dexerto reports the first player to find the token said the items are permanent. The 14 days limit when you can claim, not how long you keep what you claimed.
What's it worth?
Nobody has published a V-Bucks total from a real claim yet. FRVR estimates two weeks of free claims "could easily be worth hundreds of dollars to a dedicated collector", since most collab skins cost well over 1,000 V-Bucks. Collabs Epic has announced for this season's shop:
| Arriving | In the Item Shop |
|---|---|
| Nov 1 (season launch) | Luffy, Nami, Usopp |
| Nov 5, 7 PM ET | A$AP Rocky |
| Nov 7 | Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick |
| Nov 12 | Lil Uzi Vert (plus the Kasane Teto Music Pass) |
| Nov 13 | Buggy |
| Nov 14 | Cap'n Hatsune Miku |

Can you gift, sell or share the token?
No. Beebom, Dexerto, FRVR and TheGamer all say the token can't be transferred to another account, and gifting is excluded. The one way friends benefit: anyone in your party when it drops gets their own (Beebom, Fortnite Tracker, TheGamer). That's also why "accounts with Pirate Shop Access" for sale are a bad idea. Epic calls buying an account a scam; more on our myths page.
